Hi! I'm Anneke - pronounced "Arnica" !! I am an Advanced Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, counsellor and clinical supervisor. I have 20 years experience as a social worker and counsellor and have worked in a clinical supervisory role, including supervising social work student field placements. I work in my own private practice delivering strengths based, non judgemental, trauma informed counselling to people of all ages.
I work with people on a range of challenges including mental health concerns involving anxiety, depression, peer relationship/friendships, gender and sexuality identity, self harm and suicidality, bullying and school or workplace concerns. I have extensive experience in working with young people in a way that is engaging and values the skills and knowledge they bring to the session.
I am also a highly experienced practice skills trainer, workshop presenter and therapeutic program developer.
Previous Clinical Experience
2002-2006 I was a social worker in adult mental health inpatient rehabilitation units. I wrote and facilitated group work programs, family therapy sessions and individual counselling sessions. I am a strong advocate for people who come in contact with the mental health system, and believe in recovery, consumer rights and access to services.
2006 - 2015 I worked with 'at risk' youth in the NSW Juvenile Justice system as a Juvenile Justice Counsellor [Violent Offender Program] I worked intensively with adolescents, their families and service providers to deliver high quality social work services, and individual and family therapy.
2014 and 2015 I was the licensed GirlPower and GoodGuys presenter for URStrong NSW. I presented Friendship workshops to tween children and their parents within schools and throughout the community.
2015 - 2019 I worked for the headspace Youth Mental Health initiative as a private practitioner at the Gosford, Chatswood, Brookvale and Hobart centres, including providing an inreach service at Huonville District High school.
In 2018 I moved to Tasmania permanently and have continued my private practice working in the Huon Valley where I home, community and/or school visit many of my clients.
In 2023 I expanded my practice to include one day per week at Beach Road Mind and Body in Sandy Bay, Tasmania.
